About the artist: Yuri Popov is one of those artists to whom you can safely apply the phrase "all-R. scale." According to critics, "the ascetic painting of Yuri Popov does not travel across countries and villages as a traveling traveler, but as a full-fledged representative of contemporary R. art."

Yuri Popov was born on September 1, 1967 in the village of Cape of the Totemsky district. He himself says of himself this way: “The childhood spent on the banks of the Sukhona River was, without a doubt, happy. But the almost accidental trip to Krasnoyarsk of a fourteen-year-old boy became fateful - he stayed in Siberia for almost three decades. During this time in my life there was the Krasnoyarsk Art School, the Army, the Krasnoyarsk Art Institute, which I left for the sake of finding my way in painting. Rock climbing, caving, just tourism, guitar songs by the fires, in the kitchens, even on the scenes - that was what accompanied the main lesson. Several years spent in the most picturesque taiga corner - the School of Cosmonautics, were filled with various forms of creativity (from inventing logos, illustrations to creating interiors, landscape design objects). As well as teaching, theater and, of course, painting. ” Currently, the artist lives in Pereslavl-Zalessky.

Critics attribute Popov’s work to the ethnoprimitivism style. Exhibitions of the artist’s works were successfully held in Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, M., Paris and Geneva. But Yury Popov rarely submits his works to the court of fellow countrymen, and the current exhibition, which is anniversary (the artist is 50 years old), will actually be his debut.

The exhibition will open in the Museum of Church Antiquities (Kuskova Embankment, 7). Yuri Popov himself will hold a meeting with the Totma residents before the closing of the exhibition project during the Preobrazhensky Fair and the 880th anniversary of Totma - on August 13 at 13.00. Everyone is welcome.

FAQs

What does “Sold – One-of-a-Kind Piece” mean?

It means the original painting has been sold and no reproductions are available. Each artwork is unique and only exists in a single copy.

What does “Author's Repetition Available” mean?

It means the original painting has been sold, but the artist can create a new original based on the same idea and composition.

An Author's Repetition is not a print or copy — it's a new, hand-painted artwork by the same artist, with minor differences that reflect the natural process of painting.
