The Oil painting on Cardboard titled “The village beyond the forest” captures the essence of rustic village life, weaving together the simplicity of nature and the warmth of rural tradition. The composition is rich in contrasts: on the one hand, the vivid greenery of the foreground with its expressive brushstrokes, and on the other, the darker, heavier tones of the trees that frame the scene and set a dramatic atmosphere under a sky tinged with shades of blue, violet, and gray. This balance of light and shadow suggests a fleeting moment, as though the artist aimed to preserve not just a place, but a living memory of countryside life. At the heart of the painting stands the goat, grazing quietly on the lush grass. Its figure, painted in soft whites with touches of violet and shadow, becomes both a literal and symbolic centerpiece. The goat embodies the essence of self-sufficiency, closeness to the land, and the gentle rhythm of village existence. It is not isolated but part of the broader landscape, one with the surrounding meadows and hills, reminding the viewer that in such places, humans, animals, and nature are inseparably connected. To the left, a young woman is depicted, her form slender and deliberate as she raises an arm toward the thick branches of a towering tree. Her gesture is caught in motion—perhaps she is reaching for something hidden in the leaves, perhaps simply brushing them with curiosity or care. This figure infuses the scene with quiet energy, drawing the eye upward to the dense canopy where bold strokes of deep green and turquoise give the impression of shifting light filtering through the leaves. The woman’s presence adds a human story to the otherwise tranquil setting, bridging the natural world with the human one. Behind her, nestled in the distance, stand the huts that form the backdrop of the composition. Painted with muted shades of gray, brown, and earthy reds, these structures blend into the landscape yet retain a sense of permanence and belonging. Their roofs and walls bear the marks of weather and time, yet they stand resilient, symbols of the enduring traditions of rural communities. The huts are surrounded by soft outlines of flowering trees, dotted with pinks and light creams, giving the impression of spring blossoms. This detail injects a sense of seasonal renewal and optimism, contrasting with the heavier clouds that gather in the sky.
