The Oil painting on Cardboard titled “Sunny day under a cloudy sky” captures the fleeting and ever-changing mood of nature, where brightness and shadow coexist in perfect balance. The work radiates both serenity and energy, portraying a landscape that thrives under the dual embrace of warm sunlight and drifting clouds. The brushwork is bold and expressive, with thick strokes of color that imbue the canvas with vibrancy and texture, creating a vivid impression of a day where the elements weave together in harmony. At the heart of the composition lies a tranquil river or pond, its surface reflecting both the greenery of the land and the varied hues of the sky above. The water shimmers with layers of blue, violet, and subtle touches of yellow and pink, mirroring the clouds and patches of light breaking through. The artist’s technique makes the water appear alive, capturing the subtle ripples of a breeze or the gentle stillness after a passing gust. This reflection doubles the beauty of the scene, emphasizing the unity between earth and sky. The land surrounding the water is bathed in tones of green, ochre, and golden yellow. The strokes are applied in energetic layers, suggesting fields, grassy meadows, and patches of fertile soil, all touched by the brilliance of sunlight. The ground seems to glow with vitality, contrasting beautifully against the cooler tones of the sky. In the middle distance, a cluster of trees rises in shades of deep green, highlighted by occasional bursts of lighter, more luminous tones. Their forms are somewhat abstract yet deeply evocative, hinting at the resilience of life rooted firmly in the landscape. One tree, kissed by delicate strokes of pink and lavender, stands out like a blossoming figure, as if it holds the memory of spring amid the summer warmth. Above, the sky dominates with sweeping expanses of clouds, painted in powerful, dynamic strokes of white, gray, blue, and lilac. The clouds are not menacing but instead dramatic, a reminder of nature’s vastness and unpredictability. Their density and movement suggest a sky in transition, perhaps between showers and sunshine, or the shifting light of afternoon. Through them, sunlight pierces and scatters, creating fleeting illuminations across the fields and water below. This tension between shadow and radiance breathes life into the scene, emphasizing the ever-changing relationship between land and sky.
