Exploring "Early Bird"

"Early Bird" is a journey into the artist's creative expression. Evgeny Adolfovich Kibrik's skilled use of oil on canvas allows him to capture intricate details and textures, creating a visually captivating experience for those who admire his work.

The Remarkable Evgeny Adolfovich Kibrik

Evgeny Adolfovich Kibrik's artistic journey was deeply influenced by his early love for reading, books, and illustrations. He embarked on his art education at the Odessa Institute of Fine Art (1922-25) and later at the L. Vhuteine (1925-27). However, it was his fortuitous encounter with the legendary artist and teacher, P. N. Filonov, during his student years that played a pivotal role in shaping his artistic career.

Kibrik became a student of Filonov and was an active member of the "Masters of Analytical Art" collective founded by Filonov. This association allowed Kibrik to create his own independent works while being strongly influenced by Filonov's unique artistic style.

Throughout the early 1930s, Kibrik's illustrations for books by contemporary writers showcased his energetic and robust drawing style, which keenly captured the essence of the world.

Kibrik's defining moment came when he worked on the illustrations for R. Rollan's "Cola Bruyon" (1934-36). His dedication to crafting fully fleshed-out characters with open, theatrical gestures and active facial expressions set him apart as an artist. He often used professional actors as models to bring life to his characters. His love for larger formats allowed for a natural freedom of movement, and his bold, grainy stroke left an indelible mark on the pages of the books he illustrated.

A Legendary Artist's Legacy

The Great Patriotic War fueled Kibrik's passion for heroic themes and R. classics. Notable works from his prolific career include "How Steel Was Tempered" by N. A. Ostrovsky (1953-56), "Boris Godunov" by A. S. Pushkin (1959-64), and "Portrait" by N. V. Gogol (1973-77). His dedication to monumental drama and heroism remained a constant in his later works.

Educator and Visionary

Kibrik was not only a masterful artist but also a dedicated teacher. He served as a professor at MGHI for twenty-five years (1953-78), where he guided students in the art of easel graphics.

Remembering Evgeny Adolfovich Kibrik

Evgeny Adolfovich Kibrik's art continues to be celebrated, even after his passing in 1978. "Early Bird" is a testament to his talent and his ability to create profound connections with art enthusiasts.
