The oil painting on Cardboard titled "Boat in the Middle of City Streets" is a lyrical and dreamlike composition that blurs the lines between architecture and water, between urban life and poetic serenity. Through delicate brushwork and a carefully harmonized palette, the artist conjures an almost magical scene: a quaint canal-like street where a small blue boat rests in calm waters at the foot of worn stone steps leading into a narrow, sun-drenched alley. The moment captured is quiet yet full of narrative potential, evoking the charm of old European coastal towns where streets and water intertwine and time seems to slow. The painting opens at ground level, where the soft lapping of the canal meets a flight of stone stairs. The stairs, rendered with thick, tactile strokes of ochre, beige, and muted grey, seem ancient—weathered by footsteps and softened by time. Each stone is imperfect, uneven, yet full of character. The soft highlights and shadows play gently across the steps, suggesting the angle of sunlight breaking through narrow gaps between buildings. At the base of the steps, the pale turquoise boat floats gently in the canal’s reflective surface, tethered casually, its oars resting quietly inside. Its presence is serene, still—like a punctuation mark in a poem. The water beneath the boat is painted in swirling shades of teal, navy, and hints of earthy brown, reflecting not only the sky but also the weathered walls of the buildings rising around it. The boat’s shadow gently disperses across the surface, blending with the glimmer of movement in the water and grounding the scene in a tangible, immersive atmosphere. Flanking the stairway are rustic stone buildings, their façades richly textured with a mosaic of warm tones: sun-baked sienna, muted coral, deep moss green, and the occasional burst of turquoise or seafoam, hinting at centuries of history, weather, and life. Cracks and imperfections are not hidden but rather embraced, adding soul and authenticity to the structures. On the right, a small window adorned with delicate flower pots adds a touch of domesticity—a gesture of life amid stone and water. The blooms, painted in light lavender and soft white, gently contrast the heavier stonework, their fragility highlighting the resilience of the setting.
