The artist's mother with the newly born Valentin, left for the city of Kansk, Krasnoyarsk Territory, to the mother of his father Evdokia.
Valentin Tereshchenko spent his childhood in this city. Kansk in those days was the center of the so-called KRASLAG (Krasnoyarsk camps). An amazing bunch of human destinies, outstanding personalities - repressed intelligentsia, bandits, Japanese prisoners, Germans, people of different nationalities, religions, political convictions. In this difficult atmosphere, the character and views of the future artist were formed. In Kansk, from the first days of school, Valentin met the family of exiled German artists, Andre Diehl, and his son, artist Bruno Diehl, became the first teacher and mentor of Valentin Tereshchenko for many years. Bruno Diehl prepared Valentin for admission to the only professional art institution in Siberia at that time - the Irkutsk Art School, where Valentin, having successfully passed the exam, was enrolled at the age of 14, in the class of the exiled M. artist, student of Igor Grabar, Irma Gekker. After the third year, he goes to study at the workshop of the future academician Anatoly Alekseev, where he successfully graduated from college in 1960. In 1965 he was demobilized and remained to work in Kaliningrad (Keningsberg) as the director of a children's art school. In 1969 he continued his studies at the art institute, but already in his historical homeland in B. at the M. Theater and Art Institute. In 1974 he finished it brilliantly - the workshop of Professor Pyotr Sharangovich. In the same year, he became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR and became involved in an active creative life. Works as an art editor at a publishing house, chief artist of the art-production plant of the RSFSR in the city of Tomsk.
In 1982 he moved to M. and was engaged only in painting. In the period 1970-2003, the artist participated in more than 100 art exhibitions of various ranks, both in R. and abroad. About 20 personal exhibitions in various countries of the world. In 1971 he was awarded the Diploma of the USSR Academy of Arts.
