About the artist: Alexander Matveevich Taleev was born on February 18, 1924 in Elisavetgrad (now Kirovograd).
Member of the Great Patriotic War.
From 1946 to 1949 he studied at the Kazan Higher Art School. Teachers - V. Rusetsky, V. Speransky.
Since 1951, Alexander Taleev lived and worked in Dnepropetrovsk.
Participated in numerous regional, republican (since 1960) and all-Union (since 1961) art exhibitions.
Since 1962 - a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
Taleev A.M. - "Honored Artist of Ukraine" since 2004.

Major works:
Painting - "Buchenwald Alarm" (1965), "Harvest Festival" (1969), "Ninth Heaven" (1974), "Unforgettable. From the Soviet Information Bureau "(1985)," Spring Landscape "(1980s)," Spring Melodies "(1990s); book graphics - "Good Day" by Y. Fedkovich (1980); monumental art - "Tales" - painting of the Palace of Culture "Shinnik" in Dnepropetrovsk (1984), etc.
A.M. Taleev worked in the field of easel and monumental painting, easel and book graphics. During his long creative life, he created wonderful paintings, monumental decorative panels for several palaces of culture, graphic series. As an illustrator since the 1960s, he collaborated with the publishing house of children's literature "Detizdat of the Ukrainian SSR" (now "Veselka").
The artist's works are kept in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, Dnepropetrovsk Art Museum, as well as in gallery and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
In 2014, the Museum of Ukrainian Painting (Dnepropetrovsk) hosted an evening in memory of Alexander Taleev, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the artist's birth.
