Fedor Zotikovich Konovalyuk (1890–1984) is a Ukrainian painter and graphic artist whose works have been presented at leading international auctions and are highly valued by collectors. His painting style continues the traditions of late 19th- / early 20th-century Ukrainian art, combining lyrical realism, color sensibility, and strong narrative elements.

Konovalyuk’s art is distinguished by its richness of color, heartfelt subject matter, and compositional clarity. His works include rural landscapes, church decorations, landscapes of Kyiv and Ukraine, illustrative works, and group compositions. Working also in graphics and easel painting, he retained a balance between genre realism and poetic mood, making his works appealing for both museums and private collections.

Born on March 21, 1890, in the village of Kalinka, Vinnytsia region, Konovalyuk began his artistic education in the icon-painting workshop of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra (1903–1909), then studied at the Kiev Art School under Vladimir Menka and Alexander Murashko (1911–1915), followed by training at the St.P. Academy of Arts under Vladimir Makovsky (1915–1917). Later, in the mid-1920s, he studied at the Kiev Art Institute in the studio of Fedir Krichevsky (1925-1927).

From about 1918 he participated in exhibitions of the Association of Artists of Kiev. He exhibited in republican shows from the late 1920s and in all-Union exhibitions from the mid-1940s. He held personal exhibitions in Kiev (notably in 1955 and 1966) and elsewhere. He was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Presidium of the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR in 1968. Konovalyuk lived and worked in Kiev and died on December 20, 1984.

His works are preserved in Ukrainian museums and in private collections. Regularly presented at international auctions, Konovalyuk’s paintings remain sought after for their emotional depth, cultural significance, and timeless artistic quality.

FAQs

What does “Sold – One-of-a-Kind Piece” mean?

It means the original painting has been sold and no reproductions are available. Each artwork is unique and only exists in a single copy.

What does “Author's Repetition Available” mean?

It means the original painting has been sold, but the artist can create a new original based on the same idea and composition.

An Author's Repetition is not a print or copy — it's a new, hand-painted artwork by the same artist, with minor differences that reflect the natural process of painting.
