The Oil painting on Cardboard titled “Path between two banks” captures a vivid and poetic image of a rural scene, where a handmade wooden bridge stretches precariously across a calm river, connecting two different worlds — the familiar safety of one bank and the open promise of the other. The painting immediately draws the viewer’s attention to the bridge itself, its uneven planks painted in warm pinks and oranges, illuminated as if kissed by the late sun. The structure, though fragile in form, becomes a powerful metaphor for transition, choice, and the delicate balance between nature and human endeavor. The river beneath is rendered in deep purples, blues, and lilacs, reflecting the trees, sky, and the fragile boards above it. The artist’s use of bold impasto brushstrokes gives the water a living quality, as though rippling softly, carrying fragments of the surrounding world in its surface. This reflection not only mirrors the landscape but creates a sense of duality, reinforcing the theme of two banks, two sides of existence, joined by a path of courage and uncertainty. The surrounding trunks and branches, dark and sharp in their vertical forms, break the calm of the water’s mirror, suggesting both resilience and the remnants of storms weathered by the landscape. On the far bank, life emerges brightly in contrast to the somber tones of the river. A figure clothed in deep magenta stands amidst goats grazing peacefully, their white forms glowing against the green and golden fields. This human presence, though small in scale, brings warmth and narrative to the composition — a reminder of the rural rhythm of work and care, and the simple harmony between people, animals, and land. The goats, scattered casually, emphasize tranquility and domesticity, offering a counterpoint to the precariousness of the bridge. The landscape beyond opens in soft waves of ochre, green, and muted violet, leading the eye toward distant hills under a pale sky. These faraway forms, less defined, suggest freedom and openness, inviting the viewer to imagine what lies beyond the horizon. The autumnal tones in the trees flanking both banks glow with oranges, yellows, and browns, contrasting the cool dominance of the river and anchoring the scene in the richness of the season. The painter’s use of color is masterful — the juxtaposition of warm against cool, light against shadow, builds a dynamic tension that mirrors the crossing of the bridge itself.
