The Oil painting Cardboard titled "Mountainous terrain" presents a serene landscape where the grandeur of nature meets the simplicity of rural life. The artist uses a textured impasto technique, applying thick strokes of paint that not only capture the scene visually but also make the surface feel alive and tangible. The canvas radiates with earthy greens, golden browns, and muted purples, blending together to create the feeling of a vast and harmonious mountain valley. At the forefront of the scene lies a reflective patch of water, painted with cool tones of blue and lavender that mirror the surrounding land and sky. This body of water anchors the composition, providing a sense of calm amidst the textured dynamism of the surrounding brushwork. Just beyond, a flock of white geese grazes across the meadow, their bright plumage standing out against the golden-green hues of the grass. These figures bring life and movement to the otherwise tranquil environment, adding an element of daily rural activity. The middle ground is dominated by open fields that stretch gently upward toward the rolling hills. The brushstrokes here are layered and diagonal, suggesting both the unevenness of the terrain and the warmth of the sun-drenched land. Nestled within this expanse are two rustic barns with muted purple and gray rooftops, modest in scale yet central to the narrative of the painting. Their presence suggests human habitation and resilience, evoking the timeless relationship between man and nature in mountainous regions. In the background, the hills rise with a rhythm of layered greens, ranging from deep shadowy tones to lighter, more luminous hues, indicating the play of sunlight and the natural contours of the land. Their peaks are touched by strokes of muted yellows and pale blues, merging softly into the distant sky. The mountains form a protective boundary, embracing the small settlement below and conveying both isolation and peace. The sky above is a tapestry of lavender, gray, and soft cream, where clouds drift lazily, painted with broad, expressive strokes. This backdrop reinforces the grandeur of the mountains while offering contrast to the vibrancy of the earth below. On the right side of the canvas, tall, dark green trees frame the composition, their heavy brushwork providing depth and anchoring the viewer’s gaze.
