Tatiana Nilovna Yablonskaya (1917–2005) is a world-famous Ukrainian painter whose works have been presented at leading international auctions and continue to be highly valued by collectors. Her art is celebrated for its emotional power, monumental imagery, and lyrical realism, which together shaped the face of Ukrainian painting in the 20th century.

Yablonskaya’s paintings are admired for their vibrant color, expressive rhythm, and deep humanity. She combined realism with impressionistic sensitivity, creating monumental canvases such as Bread (1949) and Morning (1954), which became iconic works of Ukrainian and Soviet art. Over time, her style evolved toward greater intimacy and lyricism, with landscapes, still lifes, and portraits radiating a refined poetic mood.

Born on February 24, 1917, in Smolensk (R.), Yablonskaya moved with her family to Ukraine in 1928. She studied at the Kyiv Art Institute under Fedir Krychevsky and other masters, graduating in 1941. After World War II she emerged as one of the leading figures of Ukrainian art. A teacher and mentor as well as a painter, she influenced generations of artists at the Kyiv Art Institute.

Her achievements brought her the highest honors: she was named People’s Artist of the USSR (1982), became a full member of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine, and received the Shevchenko National Prize three times (1950, 1971, 1998). Her works are preserved in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the Tretyakov Gallery, the R. Museum, and numerous private collections worldwide. Regularly presented at international auction houses, Yablonskaya’s paintings remain in demand for their artistic brilliance, cultural significance, and timeless emotional depth.
