Born on September 19, 1921, in the village of Shishkino in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Alexander Ivanovich Semenov embarked on an artistic journey that would leave a lasting impact. His life was a blend of aviation, art, and the pursuit of creative excellence.

Semenov's early years were marked by a passion for aviation. After completing his schooling, he joined a flying club and later enrolled in the Engels Military Aviation School. Simultaneously, he began to explore his artistic talents by attending the three-year courses at the House of Folk Art named after Krupskaya in M..

His involvement in World War II reflects his dedication and courage. Following his service in the military, Semenov's artistic career took root in the Lviv Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR, where he began working in 1946. He pursued formal art education from 1946 to 1949 at the Lviv Art Institute.

In 1967, he relocated to the city of Nikolaev, marking a new chapter in his artistic journey. Throughout his career, Alexander Ivanovich Semenov actively participated in a multitude of regional, republican, and all-Ukrainian art exhibitions. His artistic legacy can be found in galleries and private collections both in Ukraine and abroad.

Semenov was renowned for his extraordinary skills as a portrait painter and genre artist. His artwork was distinguished by a unique and individualized graphic style. In some of his paintings and sketches, characterized by a spiritual and cosmic orientation, one can sense a deep exploration of human existence and the meaning of life on Earth. The artist was commissioned to paint several more churches in the Nikolayevshchina region.

In 1998, Alexander Semenov created a portrait gallery featuring governors-general of Nikolaev and commanders of the Black Sea Fleet from the time of Potemkin to the October Revolution.
