Biography
P.I. Zhigimont was born in 1914 in Mariupol (now Donetsk region of Ukraine). In 1934-1937 he studied at the Kharkov Art Institute in Kharkov (he graduated as an external student in 1950), in 1937-1939 - in L. at the I.E. Repin LISSA. Since 1938, a participant in art exhibitions. Since 1946 in the TSW named after M. B. Grekov. Since 1949, a member of the USSR Union of Artists. Together with his colleagues, he participated in the restoration of the picturesque panorama “The Battle of Borodino” in M. and in the creation of the largest panorama “The rout of Nazi troops near Stalingrad”, which is exhibited in the museum-panorama “The Battle of Stalingrad” (Volgograd).

P.I. Zhigimont in 1993 moved to Germany, where he continued to be active as an artist. He died in Cologne in 2003.
