The Oil painting on Cardboard titled “Thin summer sea strait” conveys the tranquil atmosphere of a coastal landscape infused with soft light, expansive skies, and the quiet poetry of maritime life. The composition immediately draws the viewer’s gaze toward the calm, dark silhouette of a vessel anchored across the blue expanse of water. The ship, with its sails lowered and masts stretching upwards, appears almost spectral against the backdrop of soft pastel clouds. Its deep hull merges with the darker tones of the water, emphasizing its weight and presence, while the warm accent of a small red flag fluttering on the mast injects a sense of vitality into the subdued palette. The body of water dominates the middle of the composition, painted with a spectrum of blues that range from deep ultramarine to lighter cobalt, interspersed with subtle touches of violet and hints of green. The brushwork in this area is textured, with short, deliberate strokes that capture the constant but gentle motion of waves across the strait. A small buoy, painted in a striking note of orange, floats on the surface, adding a detail of human presence in the immensity of nature’s rhythms. It not only punctuates the water with its bright contrast but also creates depth and perspective, leading the viewer’s eye across the horizontal expanse. In the foreground, the shoreline is painted with thick, textured strokes of ochre, cream, and soft green. These earthy tones counterbalance the cooler hues of the sea and sky, grounding the composition and framing the scene with a sense of proximity. The brushwork here is vigorous and layered, suggesting rocky terrain or sandy patches illuminated by sunlight. Shadows cut across these surfaces, giving them dimension and evoking the warmth of a summer day. This terrestrial presence contrasts the more fluid and elusive qualities of water, creating a balance between the solidity of the earth and the openness of the sea. Behind the ship, the far horizon unfolds in a ribbon of muted colors—greens, browns, and blues blending into each other to suggest distant buildings, trees, and structures. These elements are not rendered with precision but rather with broad, impressionistic strokes, their softened outlines shimmering in the heat of the summer air.
