This oil painting cardboard, titled "Moon in the sky over the village", the mood evoked by the scene is both serene and powerful, inviting the viewer to reflect on the quiet beauty of nature and rural life. The foreground of the painting is dominated by a lush, expansive field with sweeping strokes of green and blue, which bring depth to the land. The colors used for the grass and the earth seem alive with movement, giving the impression that a gentle breeze is sweeping across the landscape. The field gently leads the viewer’s eye toward a quaint, traditional village house with a thatched roof, which sits nestled among the vibrant trees. The house is painted with soft tones of beige and yellow, providing a striking contrast against the intense colors of the surrounding landscape. The background features a stand of tall trees, their leaves painted in rich, autumnal hues of red, orange, and gold. These trees rise above the village, creating a wall of color that helps frame the scene. The intensity of the red and orange leaves suggests the approach of fall, with the changing season adding a sense of transition and depth to the painting. The trees’ rough, expressive brushwork brings texture to the scene, further enhancing the vividness of the colors. The sky above is a soft, cloudy blue, with hints of dark gray and purple, as though evening is settling in. The most striking feature of the sky is the presence of a bright, full moon, which casts a silvery light over the scene. The moon’s glow highlights the upper parts of the trees and the rooftops, bringing a soft, ethereal quality to the otherwise earthy tones of the village and landscape. The moon’s reflective light gives the entire painting a sense of calm and quiet solitude, as though time has slowed down and the viewer is caught in a moment of peaceful stillness. The interplay of light and shadow is key in this composition. The bright moonlight contrasts beautifully with the darker shadows created by the trees and the house, which enhances the sense of depth and adds a layer of mystery to the scene. The strokes of color on the trees, house, and sky seem to ripple with movement, evoking a sense of life within the otherwise tranquil scene. The colors chosen by the artist convey a sense of harmony between the elements of nature, the village, and the sky. The cool blues and greens of the field contrast with the warm reds, oranges, and yellows of the trees, while the moon’s soft glow ties the entire composition together.
