The oil painting on cardboard titled “Dream of Venice” captures a magical interpretation of the floating city, immersing the viewer in a luminous dreamscape where water, light, and architecture merge into one poetic vision. This depiction of Venice defies the limits of realism to instead evoke the feeling of wandering through a vivid memory or a wistful daydream. The painting pulses with a sense of enchantment, where every brushstroke seems to shimmer with reflected light and every surface glows with hidden life. The composition opens up to a wide canal, serving as a mirror to the buildings, boats, and glowing sky above. The water, painted in deep emeralds and sapphire blues, is streaked with golden and turquoise highlights — capturing both the flickering reflections of illuminated facades and the changing tones of the sky. The movement of the brush across the surface of the water conveys a sense of gentle current and wind, guiding the boats peacefully through the scene. Flanking the canal are the iconic Venetian buildings, rendered with warm earth tones — burnt sienna, ochre, deep terracotta, and soft amber. Each building is uniquely shaped, their aged walls marked by time, weather, and history. Soft, dappled light catches the edges of balconies and rooftops, giving the structures a dreamlike radiance. In contrast to their solid forms, the rooftops, windows, and facades seem to dissolve into the air, as if memory and imagination are shaping the city more than stone and mortar. To the left, brightly colored sailboats glide silently, their sails catching the glow of lanterns and fading daylight. These boats, with their elegant silhouettes, are not merely a means of transport — they become part of the dream, floating effortlessly between the past and present. Their sails curve in the wind like wings, evoking a sense of freedom and timelessness. On the right, the buildings are lit by an ethereal glow, particularly the grand church with its impressive dome. The dome catches the soft turquoise and lavender hues of the sky, glowing like a beacon of serenity. The spire rises upward into swirling skies, connecting the earthly beauty of Venice with the heavens. Farther in the background, another illuminated dome marks the horizon, suggesting that Venice continues beyond the visible — a city with no true beginning or end.
