In the foreground, the riverbank is depicted with a complex interplay of colors and textures. The thick application of paint mimics the uneven terrain, reflecting the organic shapes of grass, soil, and fallen leaves. The water’s edge is dark and reflective, creating a striking contrast with the brighter tones of the willows and sky. The middle ground is occupied by a small wooden pier extending into the calm water. Two figures, painted in warm reds and oranges, stand on the structure, adding a human presence to the scene. Their bright colors contrast vividly with the surrounding landscape, making them a focal point within the composition. The presence of these figures suggests a sense of quiet observation or contemplation, as they appear to be immersed in the natural beauty around them. The willows dominate the composition, their drooping branches forming a canopy of vibrant green that partially obscures the sky. The artist uses bold and gestural strokes to convey the movement of leaves rustling in the wind. The trees' thick trunks and twisting limbs add a sense of stability and permanence, reinforcing the timeless quality of the riverside setting. The river, with its deep, dark tones, serves as both a mirror and a passageway within the painting. The artist skillfully manipulates reflections, using fluid brushstrokes to create the illusion of ripples and shifting light on the water’s surface. The contrast between the dark river and the bright foliage enhances the painting’s depth and atmosphere. The background reveals a glimpse of an open landscape, with soft hills and a distant sky painted in muted blues, purples, and yellows. The sky is punctuated with streaks of pink and white, suggesting a setting sun or the last remnants of daylight filtering through the clouds. This subtle transition of colors adds a sense of time and mood, reinforcing the painting’s tranquil yet dynamic ambiance.

*** ABOUT THIS PAINTING ***
* TITLE: "Willows by the river"
* ARTISTS: Oksana Ivanyuk
* SIZE: 15x20 cm/'5.90x7.87 inches'
* MEDIUM: oil, cardboard
* HAND PAINTED: Original painting from our collection
* CONDITION: we tried to convey the maximum information with the help of photos about this product

About the artists: Ivanyuk Oksana was born in 1964 in Rivne region.
