The figures, adorned in athletic attire, appear to be in free fall, or perhaps mid-performance in an acrobatic or gymnastic routine. The dark, layered background is punctuated with traditional Ukrainian embroidery patterns, which contrast sharply with the fluid, graceful bodies, grounding the figures within a cultural context.

Through this piece, Potapenkov may be exploring the delicate balance between control and surrender, as well as the universal force of gravity that binds all physical beings. The juxtaposition of movement and cultural symbols may suggest themes of identity, resilience, and the forces—both physical and metaphorical—that shape our lives and heritage. The painting evokes a sense of both freedom and inevitability, as the figures are captured in motion, yet bound by the ever-present pull of gravity.
ARTIST:
Ed Potapenkov

Born in 1968 (Dnipro, Ukraine)

1983 to 1987 - Dnepropetrovsk Art School named after E.V.
