Degtyarev (evacuated to Magnitogorsk). During World War II he attended the Tallinn Military Infantry School (evacuated to Tyumen), and he was wounded in action, losing vision in one eye. After the war he resumed both studies and artistic work: working in Magnitogorsk, later returning to Ukraine.
