Degtyarev (evacuated to Magnitogorsk). During World War II he attended the Tallinn Military Infantry School (evacuated to Tyumen), and he was wounded in action, losing vision in one eye. After the war he resumed both studies and artistic work: working in Magnitogorsk, later returning to Ukraine. He became a member of the Artists’ Union of the Ukrainian SSR in \u003cstrong data-start=\"1385\" data-end=\"1393\"\u003e1960\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"1398\" data-end=\"1899\"\u003eOver his long career, Maksimenko held 14 personal exhibitions and participated in many city, republican, all-Union, and international shows. His works are preserved in more than 30 museums in Ukraine and abroad, as well as in numerous gallery and private collections worldwide.
