The dominance of deep blues and purples conveys a sense of mystery and introspection, while the fiery oranges and yellows add warmth and light to the scene. This interplay of colors evokes the fleeting beauty of twilight—a time of quiet transition between day and night. The overall mood of the painting is one of peaceful solitude. The fisherman, alone on the river, appears lost in his own world, enjoying the meditative stillness of nature. The viewer is invited to experience this moment of tranquility, to feel the gentle rocking of the boat and the crisp evening air as the sun slowly disappears beyond the horizon. The artist employs a thick impasto technique, using a palette knife and expressive brushstrokes to build texture and depth. The layered application of paint adds a sculptural quality to the surface, making each brushstroke feel alive with energy. The bold use of color and abstraction gives the painting a contemporary impressionistic feel, allowing emotion and atmosphere to take precedence over fine details. The reflections in the water are particularly striking, as the artist captures the subtle distortions of light and color on the river’s surface. The movement of the brushstrokes mimics the gentle undulations of the water, enhancing the immersive quality of the scene. Fishing, often associated with mindfulness and contemplation, becomes a metaphor for stillness in a fast-moving world. The lone figure represents a retreat into nature, a moment of peace away from the chaos of daily life. The contrast between the warm, glowing sky and the cool, shadowy water may also symbolize the passage of time—day giving way to night, light fading into darkness, yet both coexisting in a perfect balance. The painting invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and appreciate the beauty of fleeting moments.

*** ABOUT THIS PAINTING ***
* TITLE: "Quiet fishing"
* ARTISTS: Oksana Ivanyuk
* SIZE: 15x20 cm/'5.90x7.87 inches'
* MEDIUM: oil, cardboard
* HAND PAINTED: Original painting from our collection
* CONDITION: we tried to convey the maximum information with the help of photos about this product

About the artists: Ivanyuk Oksana was born in 1964 in Rivne region.
